Opposition leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath on Saturday demanded from the Assembly Speaker to take exemplary action against three top officers of the government, for breach of privilege and contempt of the House.
In a letter written to the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker, the Opposition leader said that Additional Chief Secretary, Public Health and Family Welfare, Mohammad Suleiman; Commissioner Health Services, Dr Sanjay Goyal and Chief Medical; Health Officer, Bhopal district, Dr Prabhakar Tiwari and others concerned had breached the privilege and made contempt of the House by getting the winter session of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly scheduled from December 28 to 30, 2020, cancelled.
The opposition leader and other senior Congress leaders, including Govind Goyal MLA; NP Prajapati, MLA & ex- Assembly Speaker; Sanjay Verma, MLA, PC Sharma MLA, Praveen Pathak MLA and Umang Singhar MLA, who are the signatories of the letter, alleged that the role of the said officers in cancelling the winter session of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly from December 28 to 30, 2020, was suspicious and conspiratorial.
They alleged that these officers, on their own or under the instructions of some others, have conspired to cancel the notification of the assembly winter session, which was constitutionally issued by the assembly secretariat on November 27, 2020. And for that they created fake coronavirus test reports of the employees of the Assembly Secretariat and MLA Rest House, and presented false figures of corona patients before the all party meeting, they said.
The Congress leaders said, in doing so, these officers have violated the pledge of loyalty and honesty under the Indian Constitution. And on the other, they have also worked against public interest.
By cancelling the winter session of the Assembly, they have interrupted the tradition, which has been in practice since the formation of Madhya Pradesh. They have also breached the privilege of the members of the House to attend the session. The officers also have interfered the autonomy and supremacy of the House, besides making contempt of the House by their words and deeds.
In support of their claim, the Congress leaders also submitted various proof along with the letter.
These officers, by presenting false reports and hiding the truth, has misguided the House and the members of the House and worked against public and state interest. They have also breached the privilege of the House and the members of the House by getting the constitutionally called session cancelled, they stated. This is for first time in the history of Madhya Pradesh Assembly such conspiracy has been hatched.
Hence they requested the Assembly Speaker the take such an exemplary action against these officers who plotted the crime, so that it might be a lesson for the generation to come.
