Bhopal: Crush the merchants of death, Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan ordered, while reviewing the action taken in the spurious liquor incident in Ujjain on Friday. As many as 14 labourers died after consuming spurious intoxicant the day before. Chouhan issued instructions to the authorities to take strict action against the culprits.

The chief minister asked the officials to crush the merchants of death. Keep a close watch on people, connected with the illegal trade of intoxicants. Arrest and crush such merchants of deaths. He also directed to take strict action against people selling such items at other places of the state.

Chouhan reviewed the action taken against the culprits in connection with the Ujjain spurious liquor incident at the meeting.

The authorities informed the chief minister that the guilty and negligent policemen have been suspended in Ujjain. The police seized about 1,500 liter of liquid intoxicants. Such action is underway in other police zones also. The police personnel are searching and arresting the people engaged in this business.

Chouhan also asked the Health Department to take strict steps against people supplying spurious intoxicants. He told them to take preventive statutory steps after investigating the source of such items and their licensing and supply.

In the meeting, Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains said the government was finalising an outline for a campaign against illegal trades. Additional Chief Secretary Health Mohammad Suleman informed about the action taken at the Health Department level.

Campaign against adulteration

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister asked the officials to start a campaign against adulteration also. Chouhan said to take strict action against adulterators. Do not be spare the culprits, in case of any kind of adulteration.

He asked all the departments concerned to be vigilant, alert and active to protect the common man. To avoid problems, he asked them to place the system in order.

The Chief Minister directed the officials to send daily information about the action taken in this regard to him. “Don’t give patronage to such illegal activities at any place in the state,” he said. He also told them to take strict action against officers and employees, who patronize such activities.
