Today, people across the world are in perplexity because of the invisible enemy, the Covid-19 pandemic. The unprecedented economic downfall, unemployment, increasing casualties, and uncertainties add oil to the fire.

Children, young and old are being deprived of their cherishing fellowship. The old ones are emotionally struggling to share the joy of companionship. And, even the healthy ones are bound to stay within their four walls unwillingly.

At this juncture of vulnerability, the infallible word of God – The Bible – brings the good news for all. The thrilling message is that “God cares for you” (1Pet.5:7). We all can be glad with exceeding joy as this promise assures us enrichment of life and hope.

The omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent God created everything for our good, and all things are under His control.

God tests Abraham

We read an illustrative narration between God and Abraham in Genesis chapter 22 (the Bible). Here, Abraham undergoes an unimaginable tough test. God asks Abraham to offer his only son Isaac as a burnt offering at Mount Moriah.

In absolute obedience Abraham took his loving teenaged son Isaac and started their journey toward Moriah. On the third day Abraham lifted his eyes and saw the place afar off.

Then Isaac inquisitively spoke Abraham, “My father, look the fire and wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” He by faith said “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.”

Abraham built an altar and bound Isaac his only son and laid him on the altar, upon the wood. He took his knife to slay his son as burnt offering.

Astonishingly, the Angel of the Lord called Abraham from heaven; “Abraham, Abraham, do not lay your hand on the lad or do anything to him.”

Abraham lifted his eyes and saw the lamb caught in a thicket, by its horns. Suddenly, Abraham went and took that lamb and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his beloved son.

Obedience brings blessings

God said to Abraham again, “Now I know that you fear God. You have not withheld your only son from Me.” Then God blessed Abraham immensely and made him a blessing for the nations.

Abraham called the name of the place “The Lord Will Provide”– Jehovah-Jireh.

There are innumerous evidences to prove the providence of God for all of us, even before the ultimate need arise.

God has not allowed Abraham slain his son and get dismayed. He arranged a lamb for the burnt offering instead of Isaac; who was the promised son. But Abraham could see the provision only when he prepared himself fully to obey God.

God the Provider

Similarly, God made Joseph, the son of Jacob the ‘Father of Israel’God, the ruler of Egypt, even before the severe famine on the face of the earth. And because of Joseph’s God-given wisdom and administration he saved Egypt from the grave famine.

So, when Jacob and his sons were facing starvation and ultimate death, God cared for their survival in Egypt.

Likewise, when Goliath, a gigantic warrior of the Philistine army challenged the people of Israel, and all, including King Saul, were terrified to face him, God brought David, an anointed shepherd boy from the wood, to kill Goliath. And thus He made His people victorious.

When fear and sufferings assault us and we feel forsaken by all, taste and see the abundant provision of God. In faith, let’s cast all our care and burden upon God, because He cares for us.
