Be a peacemaker and save humanity in this turbulent world. The Bible says, “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called sons of God.” (Matt.5:9). God has called us to peace. So let the peace of God rule in our heart in this world of havoc and panic.
We must acknowledge the truth that this world is heading towards doom. Uncertainties, pandemics, global warming, wars and intolerances are the alarming signs of the end of the world. Today we can see the news anchors cry about perpetrators, traitors, terrorists, invaders, intruders, rapists, racists and newsmakers every now and then. But, we seldom hear about peacemakers, even though we are patriotic, law-abiding and peace-loving people.
Basically, every human being has an inborn emotional and charitable nature and love towards nature and the fellow beings. Hence, we are much cautious about the upbringing of our children and teach them the values of caring and sharing. We advocate about peace and harmony amongst our neighbourhood and it can be practised by imparting the love of God.
Government, non-government, social and charitable organisations and institutions are the trendsetters for the emerging society. Only a strong, sacrificial, political, educational and spiritual will with perseverance can induce wholesome and holistic individual development.
Indeed, we have to walk an extra mile and beat extra cross-roads to establish peace on earth.
Blessed are the peacemakers
The Holy Bible is a treasure of beatitudes, declaring the goodness of blessedness in this life. Jesus Christ Himself taught how to set forth the qualitative characteristics of His disciples. Jesus said “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called sons of God.”
Peace indicates a spirit of tranquillity and freedom from either inward or outward disturbances. It is truly regarded as a supernatural gift, which can be obtained by faith and trust on the living God. Christ Jesus came to this world to provide peace on earth. At the birth of Jesus, with the angel a multitude of heavenly host praise God and said: “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, goodwill toward men.” (Luke 2:14). We all can enjoy this enduring peace by abiding in Him and keeping right relation equally with God and men.
Love your neighbour as yourselves
It is the commandment of God to love your neighbour as yourselves and honour your parents. God expects from His children that they must practise this decree and become true peacemakers. The Almighty has revealed the mystery of His will and purpose and made us His dwelling place, His temple.
How is it possible! Let us see an example from the Bible. Apostle Paul was a proud Roman citizen. He had a zealous affinity in his Hebrew religion and kept his Greek culture. He grew as a persecutor and wanted to wipe out Christians for his Jewish faith’s sake.
But the transforming crisis in his life occurred when he was approaching Damascus. He went there with the approval and authority of the High Priest to arrest the Christians.
A personal encounter with Christ Jesus has transformed his life and he became the soul winner and peacemaker of Christ. He was one of the most effective apostles, who reached the utmost unreached regions with the gospel of peace.
Jesus said that we, the people, are the light and salt to this world. So let us check that we are performing our destined job. Are we spreading light and removing darkness from the life of people in this world. And are we the taste-makers to the world through our selfless services.
Let us be the peacemakers and the ambassadors of Christ Jesus in this world. We can carve out true peacemakers from this troublesome world, if we remain in Christ by leading an exemplary life. Be a blessed generation of peacemakers.
