Are you traveling in a boat that is buffeted by rough waves? Are the cares
of this world roaring like whirls of raging winds? It could be anything from
your personal life or your family life. Are you having tough time with your
relationships? Is your financial boat being tossed in the high seas? Are you
struggling with sleepless nights looking weary moving into the fourth watch of
the night? Are you, or any of your dear ones sick? Do you have to battle with a
court case? Are you being accused for no fault of yours? Are people of this
world hurting you with their words that are like poisoned harpoons? If you are
in such a predicament then rejoice because God is with you. You are never alone.
The boat in which the disciples of Jesus Christ went was buffeted by the
waves because the wind was against it. They were afraid whether they would get
drowned. It was then that during the fourth watch of the night Jesus went out
to them, walking on the sea. Jesus could not bear to see them struggle and we
do not know how He came to that place but the Bible records that He walked on
the sea towards the boat in which His disciples were struggling to
When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified. “It’s
a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. Peter loved the Lord Jesus Christ dearly and he took courage to say,
“Lord, if it’s You, tell me to come to You on the water.” Deep down in
his heart he had a desire to walk on the sea just as how Jesus Christ was
walking on it. He wanted to do those things that our Lord Jesus Christ did. At
least he had the longing to do such awesome acts. He did walk on the sea.
When we love the Lord Jesus Christ whole-heartedly trusting Him God
transforms us into vessels of grace who could perform mighty miracles just as
how our Lord Jesus Christ performed while He sojourned on this earth and much
more. God will grant you the salvation and liberation that you desire. Peter
walked but when he shifted his focus from the Creator to His creation (i.e. the
raging sea with roaring winds) he perhaps feared about getting drowned. Peter
cried out to Jesus Christ to save him (Matthew 14:30).
Perhaps your cry on this day is “Lord! Please save me and my household. How
long should I be in the clutches of the evil one? How long should I be trapped
in net of debt? ” On this day God will grant you the deliverance that you are
seeking after. When Peter cried out to Jesus Christ, immediately Jesus reached out
his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”
When they climbed into the boat the winds died down. A divine peace filled that
place and happiness spread everywhere. Nothing of this world can come against
you to drown you. The unchanging Jesus Christ who is alive forever more abides
with us to intercede for us (Deuteronomy 32:40; Hebrews 13:8; Romans 8:26).
There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.
(Proverbs 23:18) Be of good cheer. Jesus Christ will rebuke the wind and say to
the waves, "”Quiet! Be still!” Dear Friend! You will always rejoice when
He is with you.
Can you pray? Living God, when my life is tossed
like a boat on high seas help me to remember that You are always in it. Give me
the grace to understand that You are mindful of me. You who watch over me will
not slumber; indeed, You who watch over Your children will neither slumber nor
sleep. You are aware of my struggles and that You will rescue me at the right
time. I request You to grant me Your strength to pursue with patience while
handling everything in the course of my race on this earth. Give me Your grace
and mercies for this day.
