Tourism Corporation to hold grand drama on ‘Vikramaditya’

BHOPAL: People have heard the stories of Vikram and Betal but they may be least familiar with different aspects of the life of the great king, Vikramaditya.

The people including art lovers and historians will get an opportunity to know about Vikramaditya through a play ‘Mahanatya Samrat Vikramaditya’ to be organised by MP Tourism Development Corporation Limited at Lal Parade ground on October 11 and 12.

Detailing about the programme the chairman of MPTDC Dr Mohan Yadav said this is an attempt to make people aware of the dignified personalities and rich cultural heritage of the country. Vikramaditya, as the name reflects added to the glory of country with his empire spread through Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Burma, Rome and Russia. A great patron of culture Vikramaditya is still remembered as an ideal personality and for his justice. The Vikram Samvat is named after him.

The play will be staged by 300 artists with help of decorated elephants, horses, palanquin, fire works, three huge stages, revolving set, 200 lighting instruments, 30,000 RMS amplifiers and BASS and MID sound.

Dr Yadav said after successful presentation of the play in Indore, Gwalior and Dhar, it is now being organised in Bhopal. It will be a feast for art lovers, kids as well as people interest in history.   Apart from Vikramaditya, the department has also organized such programmes on Raja Bhoj, Rama, Krishna and other dignified personalities. The show will not only help in making people aware of the great personalities but also help in developing tourism in the state. People will know about the various historic places associated with these personalities in the state and indirectly help in tourism development.
