Bhojshala row: Cong says Hindu outfits inciting communal tension

BHOPAL: Hindu right wing leaders are adamant to perform puja at Vagdevi temple in Bhojshala on Basant Panchmi on Friday. On the other, the Congress has charged RSS-VHP with inciting communal tension in Malwa region as Basant Panchmi will fall on Saturday, February 13.

However, Hindu outfits led by RSS and VHP are not ready to believe Hindu calendar where Basant Panchmi has been mentioned on Saturday. In the state official calendar too, Basant Panchmi has been mentioned on Saturday but BJP and its outfits are unwilling to follow this due to political reasons, said Congress state spokesperson KK Mishra.

He said different courts pursuing Bhojshala dispute have clearly observed in their proceedings to follow ASI (Archaeological Survey of India) norms and references and to maintain peace on the temple premises. But the right wing leaders claiming to be the patrons of majority community and VHP leaders having their hidden agenda on Bhojshala, want to mend their own ways by provoking communal flare-up and creating law and order situation in the region, Mishra alleged.

As VHP has demanded that Hindus be allowed access from dawn to dusk to perform puja at the 11th century structure, a large number of devotees have started gathering there on Thursday. BJP organizing general secretary Arvind Menon, who was trying to convince right wing leaders, could not reach a consensus.

It is learnt that the district administration is trying for an amicable solution so that both community members could be convinced and maintain peace. The administration is trying to accommodate both communities by granting access to Hindus for performing puja inside the structure and allowing Muslims to offer namaz on the roof of Bhojshala.
