Vyapam prime accused will be arrested after Bihar polls: Ajay Singh
07-10-2015

BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh Vyapam scam prime accused including Nitin Mohindra, Pankaj Trivedi and several other officials of the examination board have been in jail and in custody for nearly two years now, but senior state Congress leader Ajay Singh claimed that the main culprits are still at large.

Speaking to reporters in Satna, Ajay Singh said, “Some persons have been arrested. However, prime accused in the Vyapam scam case is still outside. After Bihar elections, these accused persons will also be behind bars.”

Ajay Singh's statement has started a debate in political circles of the state. A miffed BJP took strong exception to Singh's comment. State BJP spokesman and media-cell chief Dr Hitesh Vajpayee said, "If Ajay Singh knows more about Vyapam and its ongoing probe than the CBI then he should reveal all facts known to him to the investigating agency. Otherwise, this is yet another political stunt by the Congress that has repeatedly lost all elections in the state.”

Supporting Ajay Singh's claim was PCC's former vice-president Manak Agarwal who said, "It is inevitable that the real culprits behind Vyapam will be exposed. The CBI has conducted its raids and has to submit a comprehensive report before the Supreme Court on Friday. The process of new revelations could start soon and much would be exposed in one month, by the time Bihar polls results are declared."

Another Congress leader and state party spokesman KK Mishra who has raised the Vyapam issue over the past three years argued, “Ajay Singh is a senior and respected leader. Whatever he has said will prove to be warning before the upheaval in Madhya Pradesh. CBI has questioned former higher education minister and one of the accused in the case Laxmikant Sharma four times. Revelations on Vyapam are just round the corner.”
