Irked by Govt stand, school teacher commits suicide in Madhya Pradesh
Bhopal: Irked by the
state government adopting a stiff stand on teachers’ strike, a government
primary school teacher in Badnawar area of Dhar district in Madhya Pradesh committed
suicide by consuming celphos.
Chandulal Osari, 45,
teacher in Tikhi, consumed poisonous substance in the school, Badnawar police
station in-charge Sunil Gupta said.
When people in the
nearby area noticed him excessively vomiting, they rushed him to the civil
hospital in Badnawar. He was given first-aid and rushed to district hospital in
Ratlam. Chandulal died during treatment. His body was sent for a post-mortem,
The deceased teacher
left behind a suicide note. Content of the note is yet not clear, Gupta said
adding probe would proceed once details of the post-mortem results are
Chandulal had actively
taken part in the agitation, sources close to the deceased said adding he had
expressed anger against the state government for not doing justice with the
Devendra Patidar, a
close friend of the deceased said that Chandulal was very much depressed on
calling off of the teachers’ strike by their state body. From the day the
strike was called off, he used to say that he would do something so that the
government would listen to the demands of the teachers who are the builders of
the nation in true sense.
Teachers across the
state have been striking work demanding same salary for same work and single
instalment payment of arrears. State government had dealt the teachers with an
iron hand and with threats of suspension, forcing them to withdraw the strike.
