Four IS suspects held from Kerala airports let off

Thiruvananthapuram: Four people, who were detained from two different airports in Kerala over their suspected Islamic State links, have been let off after questioning.

Though various central and state agencies jointly quizzed all four of them, they did not find anything linking them with the dreaded terror outfit. However, the agencies will continue their investigation, sources said.

Two of the suspects were detained at the international airport in Thiruvananthapuram late Monday night. They have been identified as Anas from Kilimanoor and Aromal, a native of Adoor.

Two others were taken into custody at Karipur international airport in Kozhikode on Tuesday. One of them hails from Malappuram and the other from Kozhikode. All the four were deported from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

Earlier in the day, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said that the suspects were being questioned by central and state agencies. “Officials of various state and central agencies are questioning them. They are doing the job since these four were deported from the UAE. However, these four people do not have any case registered against them in Kerala,” Chennithala said.

In Malappuram, two persons were questioned two days ago over their alleged links with the Islamic State. However, they too were let off later.
