Hundreds of tourists stranded as road link to Pachmarhi cut-off
BHOPAL: Hundreds of
tourists remain stranded as road link to the hill station, Pachmarhi, has been cut-off
from the entire state because of the overflowing Denwa River.
The hill station
received maximum rainfall in the entire state during the past 24 hours. The Denwa
River started overflowing the bridge on the road connecting Pachmarhi from the
rest of the state on August 4 at around 3 am and it continued to overflow, till
the news was written.
Police said that though
this was not the season, but at least a thousand tourists were present. The
vehicles were not allowed to move downhill.
received the maximum rainfall of 21 centimeters, Amarwada in Chhindwara and
Balaghat received 15 centimeters and Seoni and Narsinghpur received 12
centimeters of rainfall in past 24 hours.
The road connecting
Harda and Hoshangabad and also the road connecting Hoshangabad and Betul
remained cut off due to heavy rainfall.
