Chhattisgarh: ACB raids at a dozen officers’ residences, assets worth crores unearthed
RAIPUR: In a joint
operation, the Anti-Corruption Bureau and Economic Offence Wing (EOW) on Monday
conducted massive raids in Raipur, Durg-Bhilai, Bilaspur, Jagdalpur at
residences and offices of about a dozen officers of irrigation, forest, health
and women and child development departments, municipal corporation and housing

ACB officials were on the task till evening to unearth disproportionate assets worth
crores of rupees.
As per the orders of
additional director general Mukesh Gupta, ACB sleuths on Monday raided
residence of executive engineer, Raipur Municipal Corporation Manoj Singh
Thakur, executive engineer of Mahanadi project Suresh Pandey at Professor’s
Colony in Raipur and SDO in-charge, NK Jain, Tandula division in Durg.
According to officials
in ACB, another raid was conducted at 5 am in Bilaspur at the residence of
Kishan Kanti Tondon, officer with women and child development department placed
in Jagdalpur. Tondon reportedly tried to flee when ACB officials knocked his
door and he was later nabbed. Officials found that Tondon had disproportionate
properties and assets worth crores at Masturi, Ranjnandgaon, Jagdalpur and

seized assets worth Rs 1-crore, seven kilograms of silver, five kilograms of
gold and property at Korba and farmhouse at Addawal near Jagdalpur, from the residence
and office of Sukma forest ranger Ajay Kawre. Officials had to break floor
tiles to check hidden cash or valuables inside the residence of Kawre.
Officials said that the
raids were conducted after complaints received from several sources against these
officers. Arrests in the case were likely to made within next 24 hours while
more details would also furnish.
