Top Naxal couple arrested after gun-battle in Chhattisgarh
Kondagaon (Chhattisgarh): A Naxal couple, carrying a reward of Rs 8 lakh on their head, was arrested by the police after a brief gun-battle and firearms seized from them in the insurgency-hit Kondagaon district on Sunday.
The top cadres of the outlaws were apprehended by a joint team of Barsur police and 195th Battalion of CRPF camping in Barsur from Korlapal forests under Geedam police station limits, police said.
Based on intelligence reports, the squad of 195th Battalion of Central Reserve Police Force along with Barsur police moved towards the forest area of Korlapal. On sensing danger, the naxals opened fire indiscriminately on the police to which they retaliated, the police said. After the gunfight, the rebels fled into the deep forest.
However, the cops chased and arrested two of them identified as Mallesh alias Dhansingh Alami, Section ‘A’ Commander of Platoon Number-1 of Company Number-6 and Sukai Vetti, a member in the same Platoon. They are residents of Bechha village under Mardapal police station limits in the district.
A 2-kg tiffin bomb, four detonator fuse wires, cables, banners and Naxal related materials were recovered from their possession, the police said.
According to the police, Naxal Commander Mallesh was recruited in DVCS East Bastar by Division Secretary Ramu Reddy in the year 2009. He worked as LGS member for six months in Jhara Ghati since February 2009.
From July to October 2009 he worked as security guard of Divisional Secretary Reddy. From 2011 to May 2014, he served as Section ‘A’ Commander of platoon number-1 of company number-6.
Mallesh was wanted by the police in Mudapal firing on patrolling party in the year 2010, killing of 27 security personnel in an ambush on Narainpur Ghaudai road in the year 2010 and in encounter between outlaws and security forces at village Kogera under Keshkal police station limits in the year 2013.
Vetti, wife of Mallesh, became a member of Company number-6 after marrying him in the year 2014. She had joined Naxalism in the year 2011.
