Jan Militia Commander Ajit Dugga arrested
Kanker: Ajit Dugga, a 31-year-old Maoist, serving as Jan Militia Commander, was arrested on Saturday by security forces during a joint operation conducted in forest hamlet of Temrupani in Kanker district.
According to police, the anti-Naxal drive was intensified and search operations were being conducted at places on a routine basis.
On Saturday, acting on an intelligence input, a joint team of 123rd Battalion of Border Security Force and District Force arrested Jan Militia Commander Ajit Dugga from village Bulawand located five kilometres away from Temrupani.
Dugga, a resident of Ghumar under Siksod police station limits, was involved in major incidents, including attack on security personnel, loot, arson, explosion, kidnapping and others.
Police said that Dugga went underground six years back and before being promoted as Jan Militia Commander he was serving as Rowghat Area Committee member. He was involved in blasting of Bhainsasur school building in 2009. He was involved in attack on a BSF party in which two personnel had suffered grievous injuries in the year 2010 and an ambush on security personnel.
Dugga had played active role in Sulangi village ambush in 2011 in which two BSF jawans were killed. He was also involved in the attack on BSF camp based in Udanpur in 2012.
The arrest of Dugga is being heralded as major success for the security forces engaged in anti-insurgency operations in Kanker district. Police have shown possibility of getting crucial inputs from him.
