Kerala Assembly ruckus: Loss estimated at Rs 5 lakh
Thiruvananthapuram: The loss from
damage to property inside the Kerala Assembly was estimated at Rs 5 lakh on
Saturday, a day after the House witnessed unprecedented mayhem during the
budget presentation by Finance Minister KM Mani.
The Secretary of the assembly sought
details of the loss from the PWD of the House.
Most of the damaged public properties
belonged to the Speaker’s dais. His chair, table, computer, the telephone that
Speaker uses and his microphone were destroyed by the Opposition MLAs during
All the properties are in a state
that they can’t be fixed and new ones have to be bought to replace the damaged
ones. Some of the equipment were imported from Germany when the current
assembly building was built. Therefore, these items have to be brought in from
the abroad again.
