Youth shot at on birthday near Shahpura, critical
BHOPAL: A youth was shot at while he was going to drop
friends after his birthday celebrations on Wednesday night. Condition of the Chunna
Bhatti resident remains critical. It is the second incident of attack using
firearm in city in 24 hours. Earlier on February 17, a man Hilendra was shot at
for resisting loot bid at his house in posh E-3 Arera Colony.
In the latest incident, Amit Singh, 26, was going to drop
Anup Singh, 25 and Naveen on his bike after his birthday celebrations at
Gehukheda in Kolar. Anup and Naveen reside in 1100 quarters. Two people on a
bike, who were believed to be following the trio, intercepted them and opened
fire near Shahpura. Amit was sitting in between his friends and the bullet
pierced through his abdomen. He was taken to hospital where he remains
unconscious and is yet to record the statement, Chuna Bhatti police station
staff said, adding the accused escaped the spot in no time.
Anup Singh later reported the matter with police. He accused
Santosh and another unidentified person to have opened fire on them. Both of
them have been booked under section of attempt to murder.
Over probable reasons behind the incident, police said
accused as well as victim side have criminal cases against them. Nature of
crime ranges from vehicle lifting to voluntary causing hurt. Accused Santosh
was a friend of Amit in past, but duo parted ways after some dispute.
"Exact cause of attack would be ascertained once the
accused is arrested," police added.
Fathers of Anup and Naveen are government driver while Amit's
father works at a bank. Anup was a tattoo artist in past, but he left. Naveen
is a private undergraduate student, whereas, Amit is unemployed.
