Global campaign to increase tourism in Madhya Pradesh to continue till Simhastha-2016

BHOPAL: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that global level marketing of Madhya Pradesh’ cultural specialties, heritage and natural beauty will be undertaken. The campaign will be continued till Simhastha-2016.

Action plans have been chalked out for tourism events to be held during the period to ensure presence of Madhya Pradesh on world tourism map. Theme of the government calendar for year 2015 will be tourism.

The Chief Minister was reviewing Madhya Pradesh tourism campaign at Mantralaya here today and directed to start immediate preparations for chalking out calendar of important tourism events.

Directing for a special drive to sanitise and beautify tourism destinations, the Chief Minister said that state’s beauty is unprecedented. Water bodies, jungles, wildlife and heritage of culture and art exist simultaneously. Information about them should be disseminated to domestic and international tourists.

He directed to re-conceptualise Khajuraho Dance Festival. Chouhan said that he will himself visit tourist destinations. Civic facilities for tourists will be boosted through cooperation of local people.

Describing Deepdan Mahotsav on Narmada Jayanti, famous Bhagoria festival, Ganesh immersion of Malwa region and Durga Puja of Mahakaushal region as important from the point of view of religious and cultural tourism, Chouhan said that these are of special attraction for international tourists. The Chief Minister directed to start tourism activities at Bargi Bandh Sagar, Indira Sagar and Tawa reservoirs.

Directing for marketing of Simhastha Kumbh as a unique global level tourism activity, Chouhan said that NRIs should also be invited for Simhastha Darshan. He directed to organise international seminars on Yoga, climate change, status of women, respect to all religions, moral values etc during the Simhastha.

He also directed to start preparations for international seminars on Yoga Vidya and Ayurveda. The Chief Minister instructed to make Simhastha-2016 at Green Kumbh by undertaking an intensive sanitation drive before it takes place. International marketing of Simhastha-2016 will get underway from March 2015 at International Tourism Mart in Germany.
