Woman dies, 6 others hospitalised after sterilisation in Chhattisgarh
RAIPUR: In yet another case of alleged negligence at
government run health camps, a woman died and six others were taken ill after
botched up sterilisation surgeries in Takhatpur, Bilaspur on Saturday.
According to sources, Janaki Bai (30), who had undergone
a sterilisation at the health camp fell ill and her condition deteriorated within
24 hours of the surgery. She was taken to Bilaspur district hospital where she
succumbed on Monday. Similar symptoms were reported among six other women, who
are presently under treatment.
The state health department, which had organised the
camp, has ordered inquiry into the incident. Director Health Services, Dr
Kamalpreet Singh, said strict action would be taken if any negligence were

been released immediately. Dr Singh also informed that the post-mortem report
of the deceased was awaited and the exact cause of the death would be known
only after it.
According to officials, 80 women were operated at the
camp at Pendari. Janaki Bai’s condition worsened soon after the surgery as she
started vomiting and complained of acute pain in her abdomen.
