Madhya Pradesh ideal state for defence, electronics industry
BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh is an ideal state for defence
industry and electronic products of other sectors. This was stated by experts
on electronic system design and management (ESDM) subject at sectoral seminar
during Global Investors Summit at Indore on Thursday. Information Technology
Minister Bhupendra Singh was also present on the occasion.
Founder of Brahmos Missile Prof AS Pillai said that
defence electronics is a new and emerging sector. Conducive situations prevail
in Madhya Pradesh for its development. He said that importance of electronics
sector is increasing day-by-day. If next war occurs, it will be fought on the
basis of electronics. He said that Defence Electronics Research Development
Organisation (DRDO) is situated at Gwalior.
Electronic products are necessary for country’s
defence. Giving detailed information about Brahmos and AGNI missile programmes,
he said that not a single electronics item used in them is being manufactured
in Madhya Pradesh. He urged entrepreneurs to invest in Madhya Pradesh keeping
this in view. In this context, he elaborated Madhya Pradesh’ investment-friendly
policies and conducive atmosphere.
Union Joint Secretary Electronics Dr Ajay Kumar said
that information technology is playing an important role in Indian economy for
last several years. Now, electronics will be next power of India. He dwelt in
detail on facilities and concessions being given to electronics industry. He
said that a target has been set to reduced electronics imports to zero by year
2020. Madhya Pradesh will play an important role in this.
Foundation stones of country’s first 2 electronics
manufacturing clusters have been laid in Madhya Pradesh. He informed that the
Union Government will soon incept awards for industrial units doing outstanding
electronics manufacturing. Referring to merits of Madhya Pradesh, he praised state’s
adequate human resources and talented youths. He informed that electronics
skill development programme for youth has also been started.
During the group discussions, Secretary Information
Technology Hari Ranjan Rao, asked noted industrialists T Vasu about challenges
before electronics entrepreneurs. Vasu informed that constantly decreasing
prizes of electronic goods is a major challenge, which creates a sense of
