Madhya Pradesh short-listed for Krishi Karman Award for 3rd consecutive year
BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh has been short-listed for the prestigious
Krishi Karman Award of Government of India for the year 2013-14. The state has
been securing this award for the last two consecutive years on account of
remarkable achievements in agriculture sector. Madhya Pradesh is among five major
states short-listed for the award apart from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, West
Bengal and Punjab.
The Union Ministry of Agriculture has invited Madhya
Pradesh to New Delhi on October 14, 2014 to give a presentation before the
screening committee headed by Union Agriculture Secretary. The presentation for
year 2013-14 will comprise food grains and oilseed production and the strategy
and measures adopted by the state government for these achievements.
It has also been asked to give information in the
presentation about methods adopted for coordination between concerning
departments including Energy, Irrigation, Food, credit etc. Madhya Pradesh is
securing Krishi Karman Award for consecutive last 2 years. The award given by
the President carries Rs 2 crore.
Despite heavy losses to crops by hailstorm and frost
this year, situation of agriculture is very sound in the state due to
agriculture and farmer-friendly policies of Madhya Pradesh government. That is
