Child Line rescues two minor girls in Chhattisgarh

RAIPUR: Child Line officials on Wednesday evening rescued two minor girls, who were allegedly being tortured by their stepmother, and admitted them to Dr BR Ambedkar hospital with injuries. The police have detained the father of the girls and are on the lookout for their stepmother.

According to doctors, one of girls had burn marks on her back and injuries around left eye and left hand. The other girl has no mark of injuries. According to officials, after being discharged from the hospital the girls would be produced before the Child Welfare Committee, which would then decide the future course of their custody and stay.

According to the police, the girls were residing at Kabir Nagar with their step mother, who hails from Meerut. The neighbours brought their plight to the notice of the Child Helpline officials, who later rescued them.

According to officials of the Child Helpline, they were informed that the stepmother of these girls was torturing them physically and mentally. Once the information was confirmed, a rescue was organised, said HL Nayak, coordinator, Childline, Raipur.

When the Child Helpline officials, along with the police, raided their house the stepmother was reportedly away. However their father, who was in home, was detained. Officials said though the girls were yet to record their statements, the neighbours had revealed harrowing tales of their torture.
