78-lakh students eligible for Samagra scholarship in Madhya Pradesh

BHOPAL: Mapping of 1.55 crore out of 1.60 crore children has been done for integrated scholarship through ‘Samagra’ platform in Madhya Pradesh. The work is near completion in all districts of the state.

Of the mapped children, 78 lakh are eligible for scholarships. Directives have been issued to distribute scholarships to all eligible students by November 30. Madhya Pradesh government has directed to accelerate pace of sanction of scholarships. About 70 per cent distribution of scholarships has been completed. Directives have been issued to complete remaining works within time-limit.

Through Samagra Education Portal, students of 1.50 lakh government and private schools of Madhya Pradesh are being provided online scholarships. For this, data of all school students has been compiled. Scholarships are sanctioned and directly deposited to eligible students’ bank accounts by code-wise mapping of data with schools. Entire process of sanction and distribution of scholarship has been made online. The School Education Department is undertaking this process at a rapid pace.

Under Samagra Social Security Mission, a student has to apply and submit attested caste certificate only once. Students will not have to wander about for this. Under this ambitious scheme of the state government, now arrangements for free text-books, uniform and cycles are also being made through Samagra Education Portal.

Arrangements are being made to give scholarships to talented girls, who are only issue of their parents provided that they secure over 60 percent marks and take admission as regular students in class XI and XII. System of payment of amounts is also prevalent under Samagra Scholarship Scheme.

Social Security Programme was adopted as point number 37 of Sankalp-2010 in Vidhan Sabha. Under it, 30 types of scholarship schemes of 9 departments have been integrated without changing original nature, scholarship rates and eligibility norms of various schemes. School Education Department has been appointed as nodal department for Integrated Scholarship Scheme.
