Manoj’s murder accused are CPM activists, says probe team
KANNUR: The Crime Branch team of Kerala Police
investigating the murder of RSS activist Manoj have confirmed that all the
accused in the case are CPM functionaries. The Crime Branch asserted this at
the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court-II here while requesting for the
custody of Vikraman, the main accused in the case.
The investigating team has also affirmed that the
murder was a politically motivated one. The court had asked police to file a
detailed report in the case after Vikraman, a CPM activist, surrendered in the
court on Thursday.
Though ADGP Ananthakrishnan had earlier said that he
was unsure of the allegations, but the police agreed upon this in their request
for the custody of Vikraman. The custody request also states that the murder
was intentional, and well planned, with a strong motive. Vikraman for political
reasons murdered Manoj brutally with the help of a group of CPM activists,
stated the report.
As per the UAPA, there has been changes made in the
policies to strengthen the case, says the report. He was interrogated by the
police after admitting him to the Thalasseri General Hospital. Vikraman’s
statements would be crucial for the investigation team, since they have not
been able to collect enough evidence about Vikraman’s accomplices.
Advocate Viswan, who had fought cases for CPM,
including TP Chandrashekharan’s murder, would be fighting this case as well.
