Madhya Pradesh gives Rs 12,000-crore assistance to farmers in one year
BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh government has provided subsidy,
relief and bonus worth Rs 12,345.27-crore to 1,49,14,620 farmers last year.
This is for the first time in the history of the country that farmers have been
provided such huge amount of assistance in one single year. It is also
remarkable that the amount has been deposited directly mainly in the bank
accounts of farmers.
Relief worth Rs 3,048.50-crore was distributed against
losses to crops due to natural calamity benefiting 47,51,000 farmers. Bonus
worth Rs 1,327.73-crore was given to 12,82,527 farmers on procurement of paddy,
maize and wheat on minimum support price. Of this, Rs 233.95-crore was paid as
bonus on paddy, Rs 12.99-crore on maize and Rs 1,080.79-crore on wheat.
Meanwhile, Rs 2504.04-crore was distributed to 17,80,221
farmers under National Agriculture Insurance Scheme. Farmers Welfare and
Agriculture Department has given away Rs 237.46 crore to 1,79,872 crore farmers
as subsidy. Energy Department also gave subsidy to farmers worth Rs 4,667 crore
to 15.84 lakh on agriculture pumps.
Cooperatives Department gave away Rs 560.39 crore to
31.37 lakh farmers as subsidy on interest-free loans to farmers last year.
