Girl child a matter of pride and respect for family, says Shivraj Singh
BHOPAL: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said
that birth of a girl child is a matter of pride and respect for family. Ladli
Laxmi Yojana aims to ensure this. The scheme should be conducted with this
spirit. Women and Child Development Minister Maya Singh and Chief Secretary Anthony
de Sa were also present on the occasion.
In the state, society’s positive inclination towards
daughters has increased. Annual Health Survey shows increase in girls’ birth
per 1000 boys. Gender ratio was 911 in year 2010-11, which has increased to 916
in year 2012-13.
The Chief Secretary said that the scheme is an
effective tool for social change. It should be conducted in such a way that
beneficiaries should not run about for availing benefit and get it easily and
The meeting was informed about making the scheme more
effective. It was informed that now the state government will give a
certificate in place of national savings certificate. Ladli Laxmi will be paid
Rs. one lakh at the age of 21 through e-payment. The department will monitor
health and educational activities of every Ladli Laxmi.
It was informed that a study on impact of the scheme
by Academy of Administration has found that 77 percent families have used
scheme’s amount for girl’s education or have invested for family’s betterment.
In eastern and northern areas of the state, it has been used in marriages of
girls. The study showed that over 80 percent people have become aware of girls’
necessity and importance.

CM Vivek Agrawal and OSD Komal Singh were present on the occasion.
