Centre sanctions Rs 214.83-crore for Chhattisgarh tribal development

RAIPUR: The Union government has sanctioned Rs 214.83-crore for the socio-economic-educational development of tribal people of Chhattisgarh and to increase various facilities to them. This amount has been sanctioned for current financial year, under section 275(1) of the Constitution.

Chief Minister Raman Singh, during his recent Delhi visit had submitted proposals to this effect to the Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram. The proposals have been approved by the project evaluation committee of Union Tribal Affairs Ministry. Raman Singh expressed gratitude towards Jual Oram and the committee for the sanction of the amount.

Officers of Tribal Development Department here on Wednesday said that Rs 26 crore has been sanctioned for construction of 500-seat hostel buildings in 13 blocks in tribal areas, Rs 24.46 crore for construction of training centres and hostel buildings for youths under skill development scheme, Rs 16.79 crore for skill development training programme, Rs 16.57 crore for construction of culverts and Rs 10.56 crore for irrigation facilities.

Besides, Rs 6.95 crore has been sanctioned for construction of girls’ hostels and boundary walls of ashram schools, Rs 8.99 crore for construction of bathrooms and toilets, Rs 1.84 crore for drinking water arrangement and Rs 2.70 crore for construction of additional rooms in these hostels and ashrams.

Rs 5 crore has been sanctioned for establishment of solar energy system and solar pumps in the tribal girls’ hostels and ashram schools. Rs 2.5 crore has been sanctioned for imparting special coaching in maths, science and English subjects to scheduled tribe students studying in schools under tribal sub plan areas and Rs 41.26 lakh for Eklavya Model Residential Schools.

The evaluation committee has sanctioned Rs 9.26 crore for supply of hybrid maize seeds to farmers of the state, Rs 3.50 crore for vegetable cultivation in tribal areas near cities, Rs 5.79 crore to promote fisheries, agriculture, horticulture and cattle keeping in integrated tribal project areas.

Rs 10 crore has been sanctioned for construction of Tribal Research Institution and Museum (TRIM) building in Raipur, Rs 1.80 crore for the 16 proposals of TRIM and Rs 45.67 lakh for imparting ANM training to students at Primary Health Centre Ganiyari in Bilaspur district.
