Baal Hriday Suraksha Yojana: 4,500 children suffering from heart diseases get new life

RAIPUR: The Mukhyamantri Baal Hriday Suraksha Yojana launched by Chhattisgarh government is not less than a boon for the children suffering from heart diseases. Today my child got new life because of this scheme. She has been operated successfully free of cost,” says Domanlal Sahu, resident of Jevra Sirsa village in Durg district.

Sahu said that his two-and-half-year-old daughter, Hetal, has been suffering from heart disease since birth. As the economic condition of the family was not good, he has been unable to provide medical treatment to the girl child.

Sahu said that after birth of the child, his family has been in pain on being informed that there is a hole in her heart. In the meanwhile, he got information that the Chhattisgarh government has launched the Mukhyamantri Baal Hriday Suraksha Yojana, under which free treatment and operation of children up to 15 years suffering from heart disease is being done.

Sahu said that he got the health examination of his daughter done at Apollo BRS Hospital Bhilai Nagar. Her operation has been done successfully. Now the health of the child is improving. Now his family is very happy with the free treatment and operation of the child. Sahu expressed gratitude towards chief minister Raman Singh and his government for this.

Tejaswi, d/o Khemlal Sahu, resident of Katalbahi in Rajnandgaon district; Puja Thakur d/o Devsingh, resident of Taroud in Balod district; Arun Pradhan s/o Parshuram Pradhan of Kartama in Surajpur district, who have been undergoing treatment at Apollo BRS Hospital, also praised the Mukhyamantri Baal Hriday Suraksha Yojana and expressed thanks to the chief minister.

Treatment under the Mukhyamantri Baal Hriday Suraksha Yojana is being done in different approved and affiliated hospitals of the state from July 28, 2008. So far, under the scheme, successful operation of about 800 children has been done at the government approved Apollo BRS Hospital Bhilai Nagar.

Child specialist of Apollo hospital Dr AP Sawant said that Mukhyamantri Baal Hriday Suraksha Yojana was the most ambition scheme of the state government. Thousands of children get new life because of this scheme, he added.

After launch of the scheme in the state on July 28, 2008, free operation of about 4,500 children has been done so far. Free treatment and operation of children up to 15 years suffering from heart diseases have been done under the scheme at approved hospitals. For the heart operation of children, the state government gives maximum Rs 1.80 lakh to the hospital.

The state government has signed agreement with Apollo BRS Bhilai, Escort Heart Centre Raipur, Ramakrishna Care Raipur, Apollo Hospital Bilaspur and Balaji Super Speciality Hospital Raipur for treatment of children under this scheme.
