Governor urges to serve nation drawing inspiration from freedom fighters
BHOPAL: Governor Ram Naresh Yadav has urged people to
serve the nation with commitment drawing inspiration from freedom fighters. The
Governor was addressing Independence Day function at Ravindra Bhavan here on
Friday. The programme was organised by Swaraj Sansthan Sanchalanalay. Chief
Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Minister of State for Culture Surendra Patwa
and former Chief Minister Kailash Joshi were also present on the occasion.
On people’s demand, Chief Minister Chouhan also sang a
patriotic song on the occasion. Singer couple Roop Kumar Rathore and Sonali
Rathore were felicitated with shawls and coconuts.
Referring to personalities and events associated with
freedom struggle, Governor Yadav informed that everyone contributed in it.
Apart from political leaders and revolutionaries, role of poets, Shayars and
litterateurs is also important. He called for observing Independence Day as
Pledge Day. People should realise their responsibilities and take a pledge for
making India the world leader.
Congratulating farmers for good crops despite natural
disasters, he said that they have achieved this remarkable success through
cooperation of the state government. As the constitutional head of the state,
he assured his maximum cooperation in the efforts to make Madhya Pradesh the
number one state of the country.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that a new
Madhya Pradesh has to be built where everyone including women, girls, youths
and farmers move forward, no one sleeps hungry and where there is no poor and
backward. He said that efforts by one single person or section will not suffice
for changing the state for better.
All people of Madhya Pradesh should contribute their
best. He said that Madhya Pradesh is growing at a rapid pace. It is pioneer in
the country with 24.99 percent agriculture growth rate. But, this is not
adequate. A network of small and cottage industries will be laid in the state.
For this, the state government is taking guarantee of up to Rs. one crore loan
to be taken by youths under Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarozgar Yojana.
Describing women’s social, economic and political
empowerment as requirement of development, the Chief Minister said that he will
empower womenfolk to teach lesson to anti-social elements. For this, women will
be given reservation in police also. Chouhan reminisced about events associated
with country’s martyrs and brave soldiers. He said that they must be remembered
in the context of taking the country forward.
Shaurya Smarak is being constructed at Bhopal to
perpetuate memories of martyrs of freedom movement and those who laid down
their lives for country’s defence and internal security. Referring to state’s
freedom movement heroes, he informed that a memorial is also being constructed
to perpetuate their memories.
He said that these memorials will inspire for
patriotism and instil the spirit for doing the best for country. He said that
India boasts of glorious history of 5000 years. India had universities like
Nalanda and Taxila when new countries of the world even did not exist. State
will have to be moved forward to restore India’s grandeur.
Minister of State for Culture Surendra Patwa said that
we have got freedom after a long struggle. All sections of society had given
sacrifices for it. Contribution of brave women in the freedom movement can also
not be forgotten. He said that Swaraj Sansthan Sanchalanalay has been
established to perpetuate memories of the great personalities of freedom
It is a unique institution in the country which has
made novel initiative to compile and display memories of freedom movement.
Through country’s first community radio Radio Azad Hind, information is being
disseminated about history and deeds of known and unknown freedom fighters and
state-sponsored public welfare schemes.
Initiative has also been taken to establish Veer
Bharat Parisar to preserve and display India’s history, culture and glorious
heritage. Efforts have also been made to give information pertaining to history
of Indian Army, Navy and Air Force.
