BHOPAL: Governor Ram Naresh Yadav has urged people to serve the nation with commitment drawing inspiration from freedom fighters. Referring to personalities and events associated with freedom struggle, Governor Yadav informed that everyone contributed in it. Apart from political leaders and revolutionaries, role of poets, Shayars and litterateurs is also important. He called for observing Independence Day as Pledge Day. People should realise their responsibilities and take a pledge for making India the world leader.

Congratulating farmers for good crops despite natural disasters, he said that they have achieved this remarkable success through cooperation of the state government. As the constitutional head of the state, he assured his maximum cooperation in the efforts to make Madhya Pradesh the number one state of the country.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that a new Madhya Pradesh has to be built where everyone including women, girls, youths and farmers move forward, no one sleeps hungry and where there is no poor and backward. He said that efforts by one single person or section will not suffice for changing the state for better.

All people of Madhya Pradesh should contribute their best. He said that Madhya Pradesh is growing at a rapid pace. It is pioneer in the country with 24.99 percent agriculture growth rate. But, this is not adequate. A network of small and cottage industries will be laid in the state. For this, the state government is taking guarantee of up to Rs. one crore loan to be taken by youths under Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarozgar Yojana.

Describing women’s social, economic and political empowerment as requirement of development, the Chief Minister said that he will empower womenfolk to teach lesson to anti-social elements. For this, women will be given reservation in police also. Chouhan reminisced about events associated with country’s martyrs and brave soldiers. He said that they must be remembered in the context of taking the country forward.

Shaurya Smarak is being constructed at Bhopal to perpetuate memories of martyrs of freedom movement and those who laid down their lives for country’s defence and internal security. Referring to state’s freedom movement heroes, he informed that a memorial is also being constructed to perpetuate their memories.

He said that these memorials will inspire for patriotism and instil the spirit for doing the best for country. He said that India boasts of glorious history of 5000 years. India had universities like Nalanda and Taxila when new countries of the world even did not exist. State will have to be moved forward to restore India’s grandeur.

Minister of State for Culture Surendra Patwa said that we have got freedom after a long struggle. All sections of society had given sacrifices for it. Contribution of brave women in the freedom movement can also not be forgotten. He said that Swaraj Sansthan Sanchalanalay has been established to perpetuate memories of the great personalities of freedom movement.

It is a unique institution in the country which has made novel initiative to compile and display memories of freedom movement. Through country’s first community radio Radio Azad Hind, information is being disseminated about history and deeds of known and unknown freedom fighters and state-sponsored public welfare schemes.

Initiative has also been taken to establish Veer Bharat Parisar to preserve and display India’s history, culture and glorious heritage. Efforts have also been made to give information pertaining to history of Indian Army, Navy and Air Force.
