Deep contemplation, reflection necessary for water conservation: Governor Yadav

BHOPAL: Inaugurating a “Science Dialogue” on water management here on Friday, Governor Ram Naresh Yadav stressed the need for deep contemplation and reflection on water conservation and augmentation, keeping in view the fact that water is life. He said, it should be ensured while chalking out housing and road construction plans that water is not blocked from reaching water sources.

The programme was organised jointly by Union Science and Technology Ministry’s National Council for Science and Technology Communication, NITTTR, WWF and NSS. Chairman of Technical Advisors Committee (Water Sources) Prof GS Rudhwal, Member-Secretary Dr Pamposh Kumar and Director, NITTTR Prof VK Agrawal were also present on the occasion.

Governor Yadav said that research and investigation is a continuous process of science and development. They not only lead to development of the country, but also save people from harms of natural disasters. There are various challenges before young scientists and students. He called for providing every possible facility to researchers and students by removing their financial problems immediately.

Chief guest Dr GS Rudhwal said that public awareness is the only way to promote water conservation and augmentation. People must realise their social responsibility. Population boom is the most severe problem for water management. Rudhwal said that scientists are facing the severest challenge of reducing water consumption in industries and routine life.

Director NITTTR Prof Vikas Agrawal said that water is a burning problem throughout the world. In the race for development, we forget the 5 elements of life. We will have to strike a balance between them. He said that we will have to remain alert ourselves, otherwise, we cannot save ourselves from calamities.
