Chhattisgarh govt to launch award schemes for all primary, middle schools

RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh government, to increase quality in education, has decided to launch award scheme for primary and middle schools in all the 146 development blocks of the state. Conform to the guidelines of chief minister Dr Raman Singh this year is being celebrated as “education quality year” and on his directive, this award scheme also being launched.

School Education and Tribal Development minister Kedar Kashyap on Friday said that after selecting total 292 schools - one excellent primary and one excellent middle school from each development block – from the state, award would be given to them on the Independence Day 2014 and the Republic Day 2015 under the scheme. For that, evaluation of schools would be done by any third party (UNICEF or any other institution) in the last week of July and December this year and their district-wise grading done at state level.

The minister said that under the scheme, a committee under the block education officer would be constituted in each block for the selection of schools. Assistant Commissioner Tribal Development and CEO Janpad Panchayat would be the members of the committee. The department has issued a circular in this respect to all collectors, CEOs of District Panchayats, district education officers and assistant commissioners of Tribal and Scheduled Caste Development Department.

As per the circular, for the selection of school, an evaluation statement will be filled in which cleanliness of schools, painting, tree plantation, preparations at kitchen shed for midday meal scheme, number of children of the age group of 6-14 years in village before the school admission campaign; number of children of the age group registered in school, number of non-admitted and school dropout children after July 20, average attendance of children and teachers in the school from June 16 to the day of evaluation, maintenance of textbooks at school and their utilisation, details of meetings of school management committee, details of meetings of teacher-parents committee after the school admission campaign and other criterion made by the selection committee will be included. Teachers will also be evaluated.

Similarly, separate evaluation statement would be filled for the award on Republic Day, in which, comparative study of quarterly and half-yearly valuation of class-wise education quality and monthly attendance of children, besides cleanliness arrangement of school will be included.
