‘Sacrificed’ man resurfaces in Madhya Pradesh, arrested
BHOPAL: A 25-year-old man, who was allegedly kidnapped and
sacrificed in Madhya Pradesh about three years ago, has resurfaced — alive and
kicking, leaving everyone, including police and those who were booked for his
Sandeep Gond, the dead man of Barha village that comes under
Barela police station in Jabalpur district, was arrested by the police from
near his village on Wednesday night while he was making a call to his

His mother Janki Bai had filed a complaint in Barela police
station accusing nine people, including Barha village sarpanch Nirbhjay Singh,
of kidnapping her son to perform 'human sacrifice'.
She alleged that her son was sacrificed as an offering to a
deity before undertaking new construction work. The accused disposed of his
body after the secret ritual, she claimed. When the police did not take

After hearing her plight, the court ordered Barela police to
register a case of kidnapping against all nine people named by Janki Bai.
Police complied with the order and booked the sarpanch and others under
provisions of kidnapping and murder.
“Now that the dead man has come alive, we will file a closure
report against the village sarpanch and others named in the FIR,” said Akhand
Pratap Singh, station house officer (SHO) Barela police station. “The dead man
will remain in jail now,” said the SHO adding that Sandeep was arrested under
Section 294, 323, 506 of IPC and sent to jail. There was an arrest warrant
pending against him for long, he added.
