Brainstorming workshop on strategies for enhancing livestock, fisheries begins
RAIPUR: Governor Shekhar Dutt, addressing the inaugural function
of the national brainstorming workshop on strategies for enhancing livestock
and fisheries production in Chhattisgarh held at Kamdhenu University Anjora in
Durg district, said that there is no dearth of natural energy resources
(bio-treasure) in the state. More and more exploration of these sources should
be done for the development of the state. He said that this workshop has great
importance in preparing strategy for enhancing livestock and fisheries
The governor, while releasing books of Indira Gandhi Agriculture
University and Chhattisgarh Kamdhenu University, said that these books would
definitely enhance knowledge of students and were significant for the
development of human resources.
At the inaugural function of the workshop, secretary,
agricultural research and education New Delhi Dr S Ayyappan, additional chief
secretary and agriculture production commissioner Ajay Singh, deputy director
general (education) ICAR Dr Arvind Kumar, deputy director general (fisheries)
ICAR Dr B Meenakumari, deputy director general (animal science) Dr KML Pathak
and Chhattisgarh Kamdhenu University vice chancellor Prof UK Mishra were
Presiding over the function, Dr S Ayyappan said that science
should be developed for excellent profession and it was the demand of the time.
He said that along with agriculture, the strategy prepared by specialists in
the brainstorming workshop would definitely be proved useful for livestock,
fisheries, goat-keeping and their production.
In Chhattisgarh, he said, along with paddy production, more
profits could be earned by adopting fisheries. In the livestock sector,
protection, preservation and processing are necessary, with which more benefits
could be earned in this field.
