Firm steps taken to prevent jaundice, other seasonal diseases

RAIPUR: For the early prevention of jaundice and other seasonal contagious diseases, administration in all the districts of Bilaspur revenue division, in accordance to the guidelines of chief minister Dr Raman Singh, has taken many firm steps.

According to an official press statement, control rooms were set up in Bilaspur, Raigarh, Mungeli, Janjgir-Champa and Korba district hospitals and development block headquarters. Health camps have been organised as per need. For purification of drinking water and public awareness, publicity works have been done at field level.

Divisional commissioner KDP Rao, along with collector  Siddharth Komal Pardeshi, on Tuesday visited various wards of Bilaspur city and gave instructions to officers about cleaning of nullahs, supply of pure drinking water etc. Rao inspected the health checkup camp organised at Torva and the water tank there. He also inspected the drinking water supply and water tank at Hemuman Nagar.

Rao told PHED officers to take samples of pipelines and drinking water and to do proper examination of its quality. Collector Pardeshi, while holding meeting of the directors and doctors of local private hospitals and nursing homes, informed them of the directives of the state government.

The collector told them that though there is no complaint of jaundice in Bilaspur district yet, but caution is necessary. He asked the private hospital directors that if any jaundice patient reaches their hospital, they should immediately inform the chief medical and health officer of the district or civil surgeon, so that proper arrangements could be made at government level.

For early prevention of contagious seasonal diseases in Bilaspur, the collector has constituted a district-level observation committee comprising District Panchayat CEO, Municipal Corporation commissioner, CMHO, civil surgeon, executive engineers from PHED, Housing Board and Water Resources Department.

Similarly, combat teams have been constituted at development block-level. Combat teams, while keeping continuous vigil on the prevention of seasonal diseases, will bring awareness among people and on getting information about seasonal diseases in any part of the area, while taking immediate action, will inform the district-level observation committee.

On receiving information about seasonal diseases, as per the need, combat teams will immediately be sent for treatment and information will be passed to the divisional commissioner and the district collector. For the prevention of possible jaundice and other contagious diseases in Bilaspur city, camps have been organised at different wards.

According to information received from Raigarh district, collector Mukesh Bansal has declared dates for holding 59 health checkup camps for the prevention of jaundice and water-borne seasonal diseases in the district.

Preparations are in fullswing in Mungeli district to hold health camps at Aanganbadi Centre level. Collector Trilok Mahavar has told all the sub divisional magistrates and tehsildars of the district to declare about the camps in the district.

In Janjgir-Champa district also, in view of prevention management of seasonal diseases, control rooms have been set up at district and block headquarters. Effective steps have been taken for prevention of contagious diseases in Korba district also.
