Three-year jail to manager for uploading morphed pictures of woman on Facebook
manager of a private company was sentenced to three years in prison for
creating a fake facebook account of a married woman and uploading her morphed
nude pictures on it.
district judge HS Yadav sentenced 45-year-old Dilip Chauke, resident of Bhopal
in Madhya Pradesh, for morphing the pictures of a woman and uploading them on
social media site Facebook.
Judge called his
behaviour “vile and disgusting” during the last hearing on Saturday. Court has
also slapped a fine of Rs 20,000 on the convict while sentencing him to
woman had approached state cyber cell on January 1, 2013 alleging that
unidentified person has created a Facebook profile using her name, address and
morphed pictures to defame her.
investigators communicated with the headquarters of the social networking site
and collected IP address of the computer that was used to create the profile.
The IP address
was traced to complainant’s neighbour Dilip Chauke. During initial questioning
Chauke feigned ignorance about the matter but later gave up to strong
interrogation by the top officials. He was arrested under provisions of Section
419, 469, 471 of IPC and Section 67 of IT Act.
“He created a
Facebook account of the woman and uploaded her morphed images along with
obscene as well as false information, besides her address,” said an
investigating officer wishing anonymity.
