BHOPAL: A woman was attacked with an axe in Satna district when she resisted attempt by a youth to molest her. The woman has been admitted to district hospital in a critical condition, police said. The victim has been identified as Urmila Yadav, 35, the wife of Daddi Yadav.

The incident took place at Ragla railway crossing in Unchehra village of the district on March 24. The accused, Bablu Kushwaha, has been booked for attempt to murder.

Unchehra police station in-charge RS Rajput said, “The woman went to graze cattle near a railway crossing when the accused stopped her and tried to molest her. When she resisted, he attacked her with an axe.”

The accused attacked the woman on left leg and two wrists, Rajput said. The woman was seriously injured in the incident and was sent to district hospital for treatment where doctors may have to amputate her left leg, Rajput said.
