Wildlife Week: Nature lovers watch birds in Van Vihar

BHOPAL: Various programmes were held on the 2nd day of Wildlife Conservation Week at Van Vihar National Park here on Wednesday. These included bird watching, Rangoli and photography contests.

Bird watching programme was beld from 6 am in which 85 people participated. The bird watchers recognised various species of local and migratory birds. These mainly included Chatak, Khanjan, Bullyneck Stork, Red Muniya, Lesser Whistling Duck, Night Heron etc.

Similarly, a Rangoli competition was held from 9 to 11 am, which was participated by 98 contestants. Beautiful Rangolis were made on issues pertaining to nature by contestants. In junior section, Mandvi Ajay Arunakar stood first, Nikita Pal second and Priyanshu third. In senior section, the first prize was won by Tejaswini Sharma, second YK Verma and third Atul Kushwaha.

In photography competition, Bhopal’s senior photographers gave tips of wildlife photography to upcoming photographers. The tips were provided by Anurag Dube, Bhavna Jaiswal and Sanjay Jain.

Bird watching camp will be held at Van Vihar on October 3 from 6 to 8.30 am. Debate competition of schools on “Earth will survive only when forests and wildlife survive” will be held from 10. 30 am. Later, discussions will be held on “Teachers’ Role in Wildlife Conservation” at teachers’ workshop.
