Tigers to be translocated from overcrowded forest areas
BHOPAL: Make efforts to
translocate tigers from the forest areas where they are more in numbers than the
permissible capacity to other safe and conducive forest areas, Chief Minister Shivraj
Singh Chouhan told forest department officers.
Chairing the 10th
meeting of Madhya Pradesh State Wildlife Board here on Monday Chouhan released
a documentary ‘Grey Hornbill’ produced by Indore circle of Forest Department. Forest
Minister Sartaj Singh, Minister of State Jaisingh Marawi and Chief Secretary R
Parasuram also attended the meeting.
Chouhan said that
efforts to preserve vultures in the state should be made more effective. He
directed to seek information about innovations and efforts in the direction of
vulture preservation. He also sought suggestions from the board members.
Forests Basant Pratap Singh informed that a proposal is being put up before the
cabinet regarding veterinary doctors under Forest Department. Principal Chief
Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Narendra Kumar informed that the department
is making eco-system zones. Various proposals received by the board were discussed
at the meeting.
