MP Tourism Corporation to increase number of caravans
good response to caravan tourism in the state, Madhya Pradesh State Tourism
Development Corporation is going to increase the number of its caravans from 3
to 10. Besides, national permits for these caravans have also been received due
to which one can tour entire country in a royal way avoiding costly air travel
and rush of trains.
State Tourism Development Corporation Managing Director Raghavendra Singh
informed that it has been decided to increase number of caravans in view of
increasing number of tourists in the state and rise in demand for caravans specially
tourism caravan famous as Holiday on Wheels, homelike facilities are provided
to tourists. The fully air-conditioned caravan is equipped with sofa-cum-bed,
best sound system, LCD, fridge, microwave and bathroom. Apart from driver, 7
persons can travel in a caravan. The corporation charges Rs. 22 per kilometer
and Rs. 1000 for night stay from tourists.
three caravans are being operated in Jabalpur, Indore and Bhopal. It is
noteworthy that Madhya Pradesh has been conferred “GMR Express Travel World
Award” for innovative initiative of caravan tourism.
