Major fire at Madhav National Park in MP

BHOPAL: A major fire was broke out at the Madhav National Park of Shivpuri district in Madhya Pradesh on Monday morning. Nobody was reported to have received injuries in the fire that burnt dry patches over a stretch of one kilometer within the forest area, officials said.

Fire started at Khuwat Ghati area in Satanwada Range, close to AB Road, said officials and it spread across a wide area. While several trees were gutted, no loss to wildlife was reported.

The ill-equipped forest officials reached the spot and controlled the fire in three hours using bushes. This was the second fire in the area in the last couple of days. Earlier major damages were caused to the forest in fire that spread across about one km area of the park’s Bhura Kho area in 2011 and 2006.

As in the Panna forest fire case, the fire alert and messaging system (FAMS) developed by the IT wing failed to respond, sources said. Plantations in around 35 hectares of forest near Saharia area were reportedly been gutted in the fire that broke out in Northern part of Panna district on Thursday.
