Major fire at Madhav National Park in MP
BHOPAL: A major fire was broke out at
the Madhav National Park of Shivpuri district in Madhya Pradesh on Monday
morning. Nobody was reported to have received injuries in the fire that burnt
dry patches over a stretch of one kilometer within the forest area, officials
Fire started at Khuwat Ghati area in
Satanwada Range, close to AB Road, said officials and it spread across a wide
area. While several trees were gutted, no loss to wildlife was reported.
The ill-equipped forest officials
reached the spot and controlled the fire in three hours using bushes. This was
the second fire in the area in the last couple of days. Earlier major damages
were caused to the forest in fire that spread across about one km area of the
park’s Bhura Kho area in 2011 and 2006.
As in the Panna forest fire case, the
fire alert and messaging system (FAMS) developed by the IT wing failed to
respond, sources said. Plantations in around 35 hectares of forest near Saharia
area were reportedly been gutted in the fire that broke out in Northern part of
Panna district on Thursday.
