Local participation must for eco-tourism development: CS
BHOPAL: Chief Secretary R Parasuram has
said that development of eco-tourism is possible only when local people and
communities will cooperate and participate in it.
While addressing a workshop on
eco-tourism in Seoni district on Saturday, Parasuram said that Eco-Tourism
Board should constantly ensure innovations in the sector and attract domestic
as well as foreign tourists.
The workshop was held by Madhya Pradesh
State Tourism Development Corporation at Kipling Court of the corporation. At
the one-day workshop, discussions were held on latent potential of developing
eco-tourism, future strategies and procedures in Madhya Pradesh.
The chief secretary said that apart from
tiger tourism, cultural and religious tourism also need to be promoted in the
state. He said that the Board and Forest Department both should pay attention
to quality of services for expansion of eco-tourism. He said that bringing
latent potential of eco-tourism in the field is useful not only for the state
but also the country.
He laid emphasis on use of those efforts
and innovations made for eco-tourism in Uttarakhand in Madhya Pradesh also as
per state’s requirements.
Parasuram said that eco-tourism
potential should be explored in Rukhad, Karmajhiri and Payali areas in Seoni
district. He said that Forest Department should attract tourists through
effective marketing of unparalleled opportunities and possibilities with a view
to expanding wildlife tourism in Madhya Pradesh. He also directed Forest
Department to develop new eco-development centres.
